JUMP stands for Junior2adult Unbiased Mentoring Project and we are exactly that, an unbiased open minded mentoring project run for and by young people. We provide one to one mentoring with well trained, open minded, confidential mentors aged 16 – 25 that can offer help, support, guidance and motivation.
The project aims to reduce the level of youth offending, antisocial behaviour and youth homelessness and re-engage young people in education, training and employment.
JUMP operates an open-door policy to all young people aged 13 – 19 yrs that may benefit from the mentoring process. However, the project particularly aims to work with young people who are:
* At risk of homelessness, homeless or vulnerably housed
* Not in employment, education or training or at risk of becoming so
* Offenders, those at risk of offending or those identified as exhibiting anti social behaviour
Due to such high demand for our service we are currently looking for new volunteer mentors aged 16 – 25 yrs. JUMP is flexible and will aim to fit around your current schedule. If you are interested or thinking of getting into youth work this is a great way to gain some experience.
We can offer an accredited qualification, official recognition and Training sessions that can help further your career development, a chance to explore new skills, gain experience and meet new people. But most rewarding of all is being able to make a real difference and having a positive influence in the life of another young person.
We are also currently seeking new committee members of all ages and background who feel they can make a positive contribution and bring fresh new ideas to JUMP.
We were recently very successful in receiving funding from Lowestoft Together that enabled the much needed work of JUMP to be carried out in the local community, but we are however still in need of funding and donations.
We have recently moved to a bigger premises and we are looking to open a drop in centre in the very near future and would be very grateful for donations of furniture and equipment to help set the drop in up.
